Shepherdess/Shepherd   (2 positions, 1 filled, 1 open – membership)

Organizing Chancellor   (2 positions, 1 filled, 1 open – events coordinator)

Please come forth and fill a position for our new guild year that will begin April 2012 and continue through March 2013.  We need six members to step up.  All positions are extremely important for our guild to run.  As you can see right now, there are no Program Planners, and that means no programs if these positions do not get filled.  It is not necessary to be a seasoned weaver to hold any of these positions.  We have grown NOBO Handweavers into quite a guild and certainly have inspired one another as weavers and friends each and every meeting.

If you have any questions about a position, don’t hesitate to contact me. You could also contact the current member in that position as well (all positions/members/contact info listed in the “Court” section of the website).  Thank you!

Beyond Plain Weave

Published by under General

I thought I would share a few articles you might find interesting after last night’s wonderful presentation by Barbara Herbster. All are from Weavezine. The first was written by Tien Chiu, one of the founders of Weavolution, and it’s called Plain Weave Variations. The second is by Bonnie Tarses and is Weaving with Unknitted Cashmere. You may recall the lavender sachet Barbara showed us which was woven by Bonnie using reclaimed cashmere. And here is a link if you would like to learn how to weave your own spa washcloths like the two that Phyllis shared. There are so many wonderful articles (and podcasts!) on Weavezine, and all of the projects are free. Check it out if you haven’t already.

Shibori Workshop

Published by under General

The Weaver’s Guild of Boston (WGB) still has spaces available in their March Shibori workshop. It’s taught by Catherine Ellis, and runs 3/15/12-3/17/12. Registration closes on 1/31/12. It will be held in Lawrence, at the Essex Arts Center. Cost is $255 for non-members.

I can’t figure out how to attach the workshop description. So please either email me for it, or go to weaversguildofboston.org to learn more. Look under
“education” and “3-day workshop”.

Loom

Published by under Looms

Barn Loom, 42 inch, four harness (Watertown, MA)

Date: 2012-01-17, 5:13PM EST

Four-harness, six treadle barn loom, counter balanced, with bench. It has a 42″ weaving width with a 6 dent metal reed. The side of the frame is 72″ long and 66″ high. There is also an extra reed and a large bundle of extra string heddles. The loom was hand made by our father, and we are looking for an appreciative home. It is currently disassembled and located in Watertown, MA. Pick up only. Best Offer.

I saw this on Craigslist at http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/art/2804981903.html

It may be dreamy….or it may not be.  I love that their dad made it.
