If only I had one more color, one more shaft, one more treadle…

Guest Speaker Barbara Herbster (www.shuttlesong.com)
NOBO meeting Thursday January 26th 7pm

From Barbara Herbster:
If only I had one more color, one more shaft, one more
treadle… Well for once you will be completely satisfied with 4
shafts making tabby fabric. Some of the most interesting and
beautiful fabrics created have been in tabby structure. Think for a
minute about what basic elements can change to make tabby an
interesting fabric. Humm, there are quite a few! Now think what
extra elements can be added to tabby to make a more interesting and
complex textile. Quite a few more ideas come to mind? Come and
share ideas and I will share mine. I will come with a large pile of
my textiles and other examples.

Bring one beautiful example/picture of unusual, or not so unusual.
use of tabby with you to share. This can be hand woven or commercial
fabric or a picture.

Spin-In at the Crank-In in Salem NH Sunday Jan 22nd, 2012

Published by under General

Hi fellow Nobo’ers,
Some of my friends and I have antique circular sock knitting machines and we had periodic get-togethers ( Crank-Ins because you crank the machine). The next one will be Sunday Jan. 22nd in Salem NH. We invite spinners also, actually any fiber project you want to work on will be welcomed. I’ll probably be rug hooking. It’s a fun day and if any of you want to come, please do and stay for the day or as long as you want. The CSMs (sock machines) are very cool~ you might just want to come and see some in action!!
Below is all the information. If you have any questions, please call or email me,
Hope to see some of you there!!
Diane Howes
p.s. (important~ bring a chair!)
**********************************************
“Socks By The Side of the Road” is having another Crank-In and spinners are also invited! (I might still be rug-hooking though.)
All the details are below. Feel free to invite anyone to join us that would be interested!

When: Sunday January 22nd, 2012 from 10-4

Where: The NH State rest area on rte 93 in Salem, NH. The rest area is located
on the northbound side of rte 93 just over the Mass/NH border. It is very nice
place to meet inside with a fireplace!

What to bring: a table or stand, chair, CSM & related stuff, rug or towel to put on the floor under your machine,
your lunch and a snack to share (if you want)

Hope you can join us! Please let me know if you can come and don’t forget a chair.
Any questions, please email me
