Below is information from Susan DiLuzio about the other weaving guild in NH. They meet on the 4th Saturday of the month, which is wonderful for people who can’t make all the other guilds Wednesday daytime meetings. I went to the meeting that they held at Harrisville and it was a lot of fun.
They now have a permanent place to hold their meetings~ the Fiber Studio!
I am planning on going to the August meeting. If you have any questions, please email Susan thrumsup@gmail.com
I hope you can make it! Maybe some of us could carpool?
Diane
Here is the info:
As you know, we discussed the idea of ‘settling down’ and planning the
> majority of our meetings at a consistence location. The Fiber Studio has
> agreed to have us. Thank you Melanie and Pam for your generous offer!
> Their space is easily accesssible for schlepping in equipment and for anyone
> with mobility issues. The size of the room will also provide ample room for
> Thrums Up to grow – and it appears we’re growing. Word is out!
>
> Our next meeting will be the fourth Saturday in August, at the Fiber Studio
> in Henniker, NH from 10 AM to 3 PM. Bring a bag lunch and your show ‘n
> tell! Bring your rigid heddles, card weaving, weave its – you just never
> know what will happen! And bring your ‘story’. we want to know – how did
> you come to be a weaver?
>
> Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Hello NOBO!
Meeting this Thursday night – on the agenda is NEWS! Lots of feedback and great information will be shared. Also, Fiber Revival Time!
From the Boston Globe: “A day-long exploration of fiber arts, demonstrations of needle felting, hand-spinning, weaving, and alpaca and sheep husbandry, colonial rug making, and knitting. Try your hand with a vintage sock-making machine. Wash, comb, spin, and weave wool. Vendors offer a variety of natural fibers, yarn, and equipment….” Saturday August 13 from 9 – 4 WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE – put your thinking caps on and volunteer for this wonderful day. Weave, spin, etc. Olivia and Kathleen (hopefully) will be at the meeting to answer questions and sign you up!
As always if time allows a little Show and Share…see you there!

If there is an official fan club for Foxfibre organic cotton, count me in! I was working on my Schacht article, and decided to use some of the 10/2 cotton to weave my project. Since I was writing about the material, I went to Sally Fox’s website to do a bit of background reading on how she developed colored cotton, and I made a discovery. I now know that it was not a laundry error that caused another item I have woven from this cotton to change color, but the natural process of color development that occurs when the cotton is exposed to a hot water bath and a bit of detergent. Thought you’d like to see what happens when you boil fabric woven using 50/50 green/white for warp and 75/25 brown/green in the weft. I’ve included a photo of Baby NOBO the elder wearing the pants I made for him from the cloth.

If you’re going to NEWS as a visitor next weekend (which I STRONGLY encourage), be sure to start at the Campus Center. It’s up near Route 9 (Elm St.), on the West side of the main Smith campus.
There will be a one page “where things are” document at the Registration desk, to help you find the many exhibits.
Sue and I will be there Friday and Saturday, and Betsy and Margaret will be there Friday. I imagine Eileen, Kathie and others will be there the whole time.
They plan to put most of the Resource Guide up on the website prior to next Thursday.
Hope to run into you there!
