For those of you who missed Judith Shangold’s presentation on loom shaped garments last night , you can download her pdf on clothing construction for $20. Go to ww.judithshangold.com and click on Weaving Collection. Her thoughts on Easy Shapes for Fashionable Garments were explored during her hour long slideshow. She provided a handout, displayed numerous garments and shared her thoughts on the creative process. Kudos also to Judith who is one of ten winners in the recent Vav – Handwoven Wearables contest!
Stay tuned for more programming on handwoven clothing during the June meeting.

As you know, I’ve been helping my friend Polly sell her late daughter Lorna’s fiber equipment and supplies.
Polly’s eager to clean out and is willing to give away remaining fiber at this point! Free wool and lama hair! Some natural, some dyed.
I will bring some of it into the NOBO meeting tomorrow, and may leave some in the car. I have bags and bags now in my garage. Please take some off my hands tomorrow, or tell your friends who might want it to contact me.

It’s time for our May meeting! Just a reminder – our meetings now start at 6:30pm for those members wanting to borrow/return books from our guild library and some “before meeting socializing”. Lady NOBO’s Textile Tales will begin promptly at 7pm, followed by our guest speaker, Judith Shangold and her presentation on Rigid Heddle Weaving. Following Judith will be the business portion of our meeting, and if time allows, Show and Share. See you Thursday!

This arrived via e-mail today:
“As many of you know, Laura Fry is seriously ill. Her doctor won’t allow her to travel this summer. On Tues she notified us that she deeply regrets that she cannot come to NEWS. We are working on replacements for her classes and will let you know as soon as we have things finalized. Please inform you guilds of this. thanks, Ginny and Ruth”
I know we all wish Laura well. Life certainly does have a way of changing suddenly.
Best wishes to her and her family.
Ginny and Ruth will secure another teacher and Melissa or I will update you when that information becomes available.

Middle Earth Farm (http://mefamesbury.wordpress.com/) in Amesbury MA has several dorset x sheep. They have just been been given a fleece cut & this yummy wool needs a crafty new home.
A few of you lucky ladies have already claimed a fleece. Would anyone else like one? They will be right off of the sheep – so they will need to be cleaned.
Know any spinners who would like a new & affordable fleece? Send them my way!

“The Weavers Guild of Boston has a 40″ 12-shaft Macomber loom in need

nuts and bolts primarily) for sale. The wood is in decent shape but
the metal parts have some rust. The loom must be picked up from
Natick, MA. Best reasonable offer of $500 or more. New, this loom
would cost over $3800.
The WGB also has a 40″ 8-shaft Macomber loom, with one reed, a
supplementary warp beam, and a cloth beam. It is in perfect working
order except for one superglue job. It has a white Tencel lace warp
with draft ready to be threaded and woven! Pick up in Somerville, MA
during weekday hours of 8 to 4 by arrangement. PRICE: $750. New,
this loom would cost over $3000. A bench is available for $150.
Neither loom has room for more shafts.
Proceeds will help support publication of the new book celebrating
the guild’s 90th anniversary and republication of older monographs.”
