I just stumbled upon the website of an extremely talented weaver in the UK, Stacey
Harvey Brown. I thought it was pretty interesting that some of her current work includes
yarn wrappings mounted above coordinating watercolor paintings!
You can check it out at:

A lot of her work looks like paintings or photographs. She does a lot of mixed media
work, so it’s hard to tell what’s what. Much of the landscape and seascape work is very
beautiful! She uses a 24H AVL and a Jacquard loom from about 1930. Fascinating stuff!
Has anyone ever seen her work up close?
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I was just contacted by the editor of the NEWS newsletter. She needs all of our members names and addresses to publish in the upcoming newsletter. She needs this as soon as possible. So, please send me your full address to my email. If you know other members addresses, please send them as well. Just in case they don’t see my message. I need to submit this ASAP.

No issue of Wild Fibers magazine should ever be missed, after all they really are a collector’s item. Just try to locate some of the past issues that are no longer in print but if you do, you will have to dig very deeply into your pockets to get one into your possession.
The current issue is no exception when it comes to getting yourself a copy but is really extra exceptional in its content. Guaranteed to command your head and heart (!) for hours. So grab a copy, a cup of coffee or tea, wrap yourself in your favorite fiber item, and get lost in the remarkable stories and photos of the people and animals living in the local and distant worlds of WILD FIBERS.
Due out within days!

A wonderful friend and artist sent me this, thought we’d be interested. So amazing. The story is well worth the read:
‘Sheila Hicks: 50 Years’ at the Addison Gallery of Art weaves color and fiber into her take on modernism’ – http://b.globe.com/cuTBa5
The following link has pictures of her work:

Sue Jones and I went to visit 2 interesting fiber arts shows in Maine.
The smaller one is Sarah Haskell’s weavings, at the Maine Fiberarts Asociation, in Topsham.
The big show is a surface design exhibit at USM Lewiston-Auburn Campus, in Lewiston. Joan, this one made me think of you. It has all kinds of interesting stuff in it.
For more info, please see:

You have most of this month to catch them!
