Gaby’s presentation was a gift not only of textiles and traditions, but also a glimpse into the culture which she so dearly loves. Many thanks for sharing so much with us. How apropos to have this great effort of Andean cultural preservation hosted at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, our own local gem of historical preservation and education.
If you would like to see more pictures please see the NOBO gallery.

This Thursday evening, we are fortunate to have the presentation by Peruvian weaver Gaby Puma Sallo at the Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. Since the invitation has been extended beyond NOBO and to members of our fiber community, it would be terrific if some NOBO members would bring along a small refreshment. Originally Eileen and I planned to supply lemonade and fruit but it sounds like our audience has grown (wonderful!). Some light desserts would add to the festivity of the evening and certainly be enjoyed by all in attendance. Thank you! See you Thurs eve.

Dear NoBots – Can’t wait for this demonstration and meeting. See you there!
Come join NoBo (North of Boston) Handweavers as we welcome Peruvian weaver Gaby Puma Sallo. Gaby is from Chinchero, a small village located in the center of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, halfway between Cusco and Machu Picchu. She will be demonstrating weaving on a backstrap loom and will also have textiles for show and sale (cash purchases only please).

The loom is actually not new anymore, I guess. I got it in February and the first project has just come off – bath towels.
You can see the loom in this post on my blog.
The Norwood is cherry. It is an older Norwood. 45″ wide, 6 treadles, 4 shafts, and a sectional warp beam.
I am just putting the second project on – a blanket. I’ll be posting on that shortly in my blog.
So somehow, I now own 3 looms and 1 1/2 spinning wheels!

We, Ladies of the Draft & Lady Margaret, have attempted to organize our guild meeting time so that it is as productive as possible. This time pie is a visual breakdown of how we see future meetings running. Let us know if you have suggestions.
