Official NOBO Court

Published by under General

Mary and I were heartened to see the response to our medieval guild concept, with an emphasis on learning our “trade”.
So here are the official titles:
Lady Nobo (fearless leader)– Margaret Russell
Her Lady in Waiting a.k.a. Lady Heddle–Eileen Fitzgerald
Draft Committee (program planners): Sue Jones, Kathleen Corcoran and Kirsten O’Leary
Scribe and Illuminator– Kathie Kelleher
Exchequer ($$$)– Vicki White
Curator/Historian– Joan Biasucci
Victular (food coordinator)– Michelle Pouliot

Webmaster – Dave Daniels assisted by Ted Gent

Dowager Queen (sans the hump)– Betsy Martin

Lady Warp and Weft (apprentice, journeyman and master education program)–Mary Shattuck and Melissa Hankens

Shepherdess– Judith Ryan

Sheep Sleuth– Gail Gentile

We’re glad that the ancient guild system is going to dovetail so nicely with our twenty first century group. After all, it’s all about friendship and learning.

Just For Socks Bag

Published by under General

Well, I finished my Handwoven “Not Just For Socks” entry.
Let’s just say it’s a good thing that the camera can make something look finished when it’s not quite there yet…
I’ve named it the Just For Socks Bag and I thought you might all be interested in seeing the final product. Especially since all I passed around at Show and Share were the pieces.

I was going to bring it to the March meeting but it’s on it’s way to Colorado! Yup, it’s a finalist.
I’ve been pinching myself a lot lately due to an extraordinarily good start to 2010.
Thanks Betsy for suggesting I go for it.
Now I need to make another sock project bag because I really need one !

I just heard about a yarn crawl north of Boston.  This sounds like a fun thing to do: http://ayarncrawl.com/ Is anyone going?

More NOBO Items

Published by under Guild Business

I was just checking out the CafePress site, and found some new products.

I’ve added these to the regular NOBO CafePress site:  http://www.cafepress.com/NOBOHandweavers

A NOBO Handweaver’s Apron, perfect for those time when you want to cook or do some fiber dyeing!

A NOBO Handweaver’s Beach Tote…because…like…we’re near the beach.

And a NOBO Handweavers Economy-priced tee.  Great for giveaways or for those times when you need to have something more economically-priced.

All of these items are available and priced at cost.
