Kathie and Mary are to be commended for the thought and foresight they put into choosing NOBO’s leadership for the upcoming year. And, of course, many thanks to Lady Margaret and her Court for accepting these responsibilities. It’s going to be a very exciting time.

Hi all-
I don’t think we’ve ever had to cancel due to snow before but what’s the procedure? I can’t remember…
Is anyone else tired of all the storm hype that weather reporting has become? I originally heard heavy rain for tomorrow, now I’m hearing snowicane.
Snowicane? Geez!
Okay, now I heard just rain again. Ought to be interesting.

As you may know, the current issue of “Handwoven” magazine issued a reader challenge. At Betsy’s suggestion, Kathie K. and I accepted this challenge. We plan to bring our projects (finished or not) to the meeting next week, and are asking that anyone else who entered the contest bring their projects to the meeting, as well (finished or not).

The following link was included in the Boston Weavers Guild latest email broadcast. I really enjoyed reading through this and believe it is worth sharing with everyone – http://www.windrewindweave.com/weaversWORDS01.19.10.pdf

I just got the 3 NEWS sample books that we’ll look at next week. They are Shadow Weave, Color and Weave, and M’s and O’s.
Lots of interesting samples to see. You might want to bring your cameras, so you can get color photos of the samples in addition to copying drafts.

Excepted from Handwoven Weaving Weekly email:
Crafts and community go together like ham and eggs, and for weavers, guilds are where community happens. We gather to learn from and encourage each other, to share weaving challenges and triumphs, and to be with others who understand and appreciate our neo-Luddite passions. (Admit it, even you compu-dobby people love to throw and beat.) Many a lifelong friendship has taken root in a guild, and many a new heart has been won to weaving through guild programs.
In 2010, we at Handwoven want to partner with your guild to help the weaving community thrive and grow. We began by asking guilds to include us on their newsletter distribution lists, and we’re blown away by the exceptional outreach, exciting workshops and study projects, and the dazzling handweaving you are all doing. To help you share those successes and great ideas with the wider community, we’re planning an exciting redesign of our website, and we’ll be devoting space in each magazine to guild news. To bring us the good news, we’re looking for Handwoven Roving Reporters, a volunteer from each guild who will tell us what’s happening in their weaving world and let their guild know what’s going on at Interweave. We’ll have requests for content and an occasional survey to help us serve you better. We’re asking you folks on the frontline to tell us what weavers most want and need.
To sign up a Handwoven Roving Reporter for your guild, please contact our assistant editor, Pattie, at pgraver@interweave.com or call (970) 613-4629, ext. 629. We look forward to hearing from you.
