Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to start thinking about Holiday gift giving. This year, all the “special” people on my list will be getting hand made gifts from me. And the even MORE special will get something handwoven.
For my mom, new kitchen towels. Dad will get a scarf because it’s his first winter in New England in a long time. A couple of friends will get small totes made from handwoven fabrics. Things like that.
What kind of gifts are you planning on making this year?

Does anyone have a copy of the November-December 2006 issue of Fiberarts Magazine that I could borrow? Thanks in advance.

***EDITED TO ADD: THE LOOM IS SOLD***
I’m starting to destash my looms.
Hard to believe, huh?
Up first, is my genuine 24″ 4H Dorset portable jack loom, precursor to the Wolf Pup.
This loom is ideal for workshops/ demonstrations and for beginner and expert weavers alike.
It has a nice big shed and is crafted from beautiful maple.
It weaves 24″ wide and comes with a 12 dent stainless steel reed.
I’m asking $500 and would prefer local pick up.
E-mail me at kathiekelleher@yahoo.com if you think this loom wants to come home with you!

Well, the first project is off the loom.

I never imagined what a 9-yard warp would look like once it was actually woven:

It’s not all the same pattern or weft going through it all, but it was a LOT of fun to weave. And even more fun to un-warp (?), de-warp (?), take off the loom.
originally, I wanted to make a jacket, but I’m just a few feet shy for the pattern. For now, it’s going to be a shawl and will most likely be a Holiday gift.

I have a friend who has 2 cashmere goats that she wants to give away. They are both males. You need to provide transportation from Berwick, Maine. I will provide her contact if you are interested.
