Keep the Fleece/World’s Longest Scarf

Published by under General

Good news – the NOBO Handweavers scarf team has almost reached our goal of $600 towards the world’s largest fiber flock. We have had some tremendous donations and still need a few more. Reaching our goal will purchase 5 sheep ($120 each). Please encourage friends and family to visit keepthefleece.org to learn about the World’s Longest Scarf and our involvement with Heifer International through Keep the Fleece. The website is very informative and explains how important this project is in helping farmers domestically and internationally. Donations may be made directly through the Keep the Fleece site and NOBO Handweavers may be credited. We are one of 86 teams working on this! Let’s make sure NOBO Handweavers stand out with our donations and provide as many fiber animals as possible. Our scarf needs to be in Rhinebeck, NY by Oct 1, so we only have a few weeks left.

Website safetly + security

Published by under General

Currently, the Members Directory and the Library are password protected. That means that a registered member can view them once they are given the password.
The question now is who is a member, and what constitutes a member? Is it only folks whom have paid dues?
In order for someone to write a post, they need the be registered. My question is, should it be set up so that ONLY paid members are allowed to register, post, and view the private pages?
Also, should the website be more “locked down”, in a way that it is a completely protected and viewable ONLY to members?
What are your thoughts as this site begins to grow?
Also, I can create image galleries here instead of using other sites, or pay sites. Currently, I am paying for the domain registration and hosting from my own monies, and space is somewhat limited. If need be, after the one year rollover date, the Guild may want to seek out other hosting venues if that’s needed. But, depending on the size and future needs and growth of the Guild, everything is fine space wise.
So, please join in this discussion and let’s hear from everyone.
Dave, The NOBO Web Guy
PS- I’ve changed the passwords on both the MEMBERS page and the LIBRARY page. Please contact me and I’ll get you the new password.

Photos and email after Yahoo Groups

Published by under General

Hi all,

After we close this forum, members will be able to send emails to each other privately if need be. Discussions will be blogged! I think we encourage everyone to get registered on the blog and begin to share your projects, ideas, and photos there. Blogging is a chronological process: the newest post is at the top. Posts are archived and are searchable by category. There is a list of categories on the left to use with your posts.
We can add more but cautiously. As one who has over-catergorized, having a blog with clearly defined categories makes searching far more effective.
