Merrimac Library loves weaving

Published by at 8:12 PM under General

At least my friend Ann does and she’s in charge of the library’s exhibits.

She recently asked if I could put up a weaving exhibit, which I gladly did.

That display will be around until mid-October.

Seems like she has a locked flat case that could use some more weaving, so I thought of NoBo’s finest.

If anyone wants to display woven pieces, tools, books etc.,

please contact me via email. I believe the depth of the case is approximately 12″ and the items can be for sale.

Now, it gets even better.

Ann and I were talking and she came up with the idea of a weaving and spinning demo at the library.

Merrimac Library is a new and beautiful building which would be ideal for demonstrating our craft.

There’s an activity board out front on Rt. 110 and Ann would place an article in the paper, so we’d get publicity.

It sure seems like a good opportunity to me.

Anyone interested?

That’s what I was hoping to hear.
Once I get a few folks interested, we’ll make plans with Ann and the library.
    Got to love the libraries!

I’m always willing to sit and spin too. Just depends on the day. No Wednesdays please.

    Does a Saturday sound good?
The library’s open on Saturdays from 10–2.
That day would be good because kids could come by to watch.

If Saturday’s good, I’ll talk to Ann to figure out a good date.
Does anyone have a weekend that’s not good?

Thanks for those willing to demonstrate.
Ann was very excited when I mentioned that there were volunteers

I would be thrilled to come and spin with you. I could spin flax or bring my great wheel. I am busy on some of the upcoming Saturdays though (9-25,10-9, and 10-30).

I am busy on 9-25 and 10-9. But otherwise I think I could do this! Now to bring the Louet or the Ashford……

I’m proud to know such generous people.
Ann is consulting with the head librarian but with everyone’s availability,
I’m going to just tell her what works for us.

It’s funny, we all seem to be busy the same days!
That makes it much easier to chose the day we can demo.
    This will be fun.
I really want to see flax spun on a great wheel.
