My Weaver’s Swap
My swap partner is having computer trouble, so I doubt she’ll find this posted over here. Kathie and I are in the same swap, and I made a couple of bags.
Roxie sent me this fabric and some extra yarn to make the bag:

And I made this tote out of it, since she love to garden:

I also made her a small handbag with a canvas handle. These ought to make her smile while she’s out doing fun stuff. It was a little scary at first to cut into someone else’s handwoven fabric. But, after the initial cut, it was a lot of fun to design from scratch.

Beautiful! She’ll be thrilled!
Yes- beautiful indeed!
Did you inkle weave the handles?
I’m still in the designing stage and am quite impressed that yours is done
Thank you both!
And, Kathie, the strap on the tote is manufactured, picked it up at the fabric store. I didn’t want to risk learning on the inkle yet for this project. The color is a perfect match, too, so it helps with the finished look.
I’m debating on holding off sending it to her. I’m thinking about making a hat with more of the leftovers. She loves hats, and I can’t decide…
I just love everything about this tote. Beautifully done, Dave. What are the fibers that were used in the fabric?
Thank you, Margaret. Allegedly, it’s all cotton. We were supposed to make an all-cotton weaving. Roxie is rather adventurous, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what she really used. All my contributions for it were pure cotton. As I was packing it up for shipping this evening, I was admiring the various details. I’m sure she’ll love it. I’ll update the post with photos of her using it.
