Comment Spam

It seems that the spam bots are out in full force now that the Holidays are over.
As moderator, I going to temporarily close commenting on the NOBO website. It’s my hopes that the spammers/bots will get bored and move on. This is just temporary, and my apologies for the need to do this.
What are your thoughts on having comments open only registered members instead of anyone/anything that happens to find the site? (Comments will be left open on this post for a short time.)

    It sounds like this may be a necessity. My feeling is the site is primarily for the use of NOBO and communicating among members, especially since we have done away with the yahoo forum. Secondly to promote our guild and advertise upcoming events. I see the interactions, other than the spam, always taking place among members. There rarely seems to be a relevant comment from someone perusing the site.

    Relying on your good judgement Dave, but I for one am fine with comments being open to registered members only, even if for a trial period.

    Thank you for the feedback, Margaret. I’ve changed the settings to allow only registered members to comment. We’ll see how it goes. I’m sure this will take care of the problem. And, if non-members would like, they may use the CONTACT page, and those will be answered right away.
    Let’s hear from the other members, too.

    Keep it simple- NOBO members only when it comes to commenting.
    Spam bots stink!
