Holiday Weaving
Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s time to start thinking about Holiday gift giving. This year, all the “special” people on my list will be getting hand made gifts from me. And the even MORE special will get something handwoven.
For my mom, new kitchen towels. Dad will get a scarf because it’s his first winter in New England in a long time. A couple of friends will get small totes made from handwoven fabrics. Things like that.
What kind of gifts are you planning on making this year?

Well, what I want to give and will give seem to be two different things.
What I wanted to give was a New Hampshire tartan scarf to my Aunt who moved from NH to Portland. OR.
Also, a hand woven vest for my husband.
What I am weaving or have woven are dish towels for my friend, Muffy and my brother, Paul.
A MacIntyre tartan scarf for my daughter and other brother plus a rag rug for my sister in law are in the works.
Who knows- I may get to the elusive vest and scarf.
If not, plenty of time for next Christmas
I am presently in CPWM (Christmas Panic Weaving Mode). A wool/silk wrap for a good friend in Nova Scotia is presently on the loom – birdseye pattern. Please remind me how much fun that is the next time I have a project in mind.
After that, 6 scarves from 3 warps. Mom, sis in law, niece, best friend, and 2 very good friends who have helped me out this past year. 2 more of the same wool/silk (Zephyr in Ladyslipper…a ‘happy’ color), 2 in a beautiful violet wool/silk I got from Besty during the year, and 2 from the sparkly sock yarn (Purple Rain…not to be confused with eggplant). I really think I can get this done…I spent one Christmas Eve at Anna Jacques Emergency room with my foot propped up waiting for a doctor and finished knitting a throw for my mother. Anything is possible.
Gail- I love the can do attitude!
Plus, the projects sound lovely.
How timely:

I saw that, too, and got a good laugh.
I have made a whole slew of placemat sets, some scarves, wash cloths, and bookmarks! Everything is lying on my guest bed, waiting for me to decide who gets what.
I do have scarves on the loom which I will try to finish!
