My Wolf Pup Loom in Cherry
This is my current favorite loom. It’s a Schact Wolf Pup Loom in cherry wood. I got it last October, and I’ve been enjoying using it. It’s a 4 harness, 4 treadle, direct tie up. I’ve done some minor modifications to it like replacing all the maple dowels with cherry wood so that everything would match.
The details:
Weaving width is 18″
Actual loom width is 26″, and a height of 35″ to the top of the castle
When it’s in the folded position, as the top photo of this post, it’s right at 42″
Front to back is only 33″
This makes it about the size of my small dining table, perfect for small apartment living.

If you’re considering a Wolf Pup and have any questions, let me know.
What’s your favorite loom?

This is such a beautiful loom and you’ve woven the most beautiful items on it.
My 24″ Norwood workshop loom is cherry and 15+ years old. Wait until you see how fantastic cherry wood ages!
I have one too! What’s your serial number?
Melissa
hey, I always wondered if I was the only one who bought one of these looms. My serial # is 090908-WP-C-8 , September 8, 8th one made that day. How about yours?
Same day #3! They made less than 50 in all, and it’s the only time they have ever made the Pup in cherry (I had the good fortune to work there for a while).

Wow, that’s some great info. I didn’t know there were only 50 made. What about those walnut Baby Wolf anniversary editions?
I’ll find out how many walnut looms were made. I know they didn’t make many. Schacht sends all of its sawdust to a local horse farm as part of their reduce, reuse, recycle program. For some reason, the horses and the walnut don’t mix. This means they have to disassemble the entire filtration system and clear out all traces of the walnut before they can go back to milling the maple and cherry. This is no easy feat.
I heard that same story about the walnut wood and having to thoroughly clean the factory. But I’m looking forward to getting my Baby Wolf when they’re ready.
So the confirmed number of cherry Pups made is 30. There will be only 30 walnut Baby Wolfs as well. Very cool that you’re getting one of those. You’ll definitely have to post a photo.
That’s amazing you both have cherry Wolf Pups born on the same day (and only 30 were made!).
Very small world.
That walnut Baby Wolf is going to be a treasure. I’m so glad you went for it
That really is amazing about 30 of each. And I’m glad I went for the walnut, too. I’ve known for a while I wanted to get the baby Wolf, and when I ready they were making them in walnut, that was all I needed for incentive. (And, my little online yard sale helped pay off the bill for it, too.)
My Cherry Wolf Pup is #1 from October 22, 2008. Dave?!? You’re getting a Baby Wolf? You dog!

(not from Boston…)
Cherry Wolf Pup #1?
I’m impressed!
Kathie: My loom was #1 produced on October 22, so it was actually made after Dave’s and Melentine’s. Of course, it’s still #1 (period) in my heart.
Hmmm. I think I hear it calling right now. I think it wants to be used…
