My attempt to find some Lincoln yarn here in VT were unsuccessful with one source losing her flock to hoof disease and the other shepherdess having knee surgery. So I tried my husband’s patience and connected with Linda at Maple Ridge Farm. After a narrow dirt road tangent, we found her and her grazing sheep and 2 dogs. I came away with some Dorset roving andsome frustrated corgis who didn’t get to chase anybody! I’ll attach a photo if I can manage it on this iPhone.
Now if could only spin

I’m loving the adventure of tracking down our wool.
A narrow dirt road in VT sounds just about right…
Oh, you’ll be a spinning champ soon

Are you taking spinning lessons? Do you have a wheel? Spinning is very very very addictive! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
I don’t have a wheel just a Turkish drop spindle and am a rank beginner. Maybe I should accept the inevitable and find a class. Then I could ask the Bargain Queen of North America to search for a wheel.
Forwarned!
Well Eileen, not to put the spinning pressure on, but having the Dorset Horn roving is the closest success at securing yarn for this breed so far. There is a farm in VT that raises Dorset Horns but I am not having a whole lot of luck connecting with them (have sent out 2 emails). I have a skein of Dorset they sent as a sample quite a while back and have since been trying to get more for my own use. They did have 2 weights, aran and sport, the last we communicated.
I have connected with the gentleman from the farm in VT that raises Dorset Horn sheep. He is getting together the skeins for me and will be sending them on. Not entirely sure what will be coming (this is the element of surprise I just love), but I am sure there should be enough for a skein to go towards the bookmark exchange. Even if you are able to spin some of your Dorset Horn roving and combine it with millspun, or weave in some roving, or …….. There are lots of possibilities here.
